| In few words what do you need to run the Vtel?
To use the Vtel first of all you have to own a Vtel, you can take it here, then you need to download the VoIP component. Your PC must be equipped with Java Virtual Machine, version greater or equal then the JRE1.5.0.15, if the firewall is active on your PC it must be opened for the ports: 5060 (SIP), 6660, 6661 on UDP. If you connect to the Internet using a router-nat it will be setting up for a "port forwarding" of those doors up to the private IP address of your PC. Finally you must not have other equipment SIP active, in listening on ports reported, running on your PC.
Sometimes I get a message like this: "...No entry ... numVtel and (Loading...) found in the database ..."
This usually happens if you wear the Vtel before Second
Life has finished loading the profile of the avatar,
then are attempts to use your phone by another avatar
named (Loading. ..) rather than by your alterego. The
system does not allows this. We suggest you to wait
few second before using Vtel when you have just entered
in Second Life.
I
get an error during startup of the VoIP program ( )
:
If you get an error launching the VoIP program, you have to update the file Vtel.bat with the coccerct path of your JVM (for example: C:\"Program Files"\Java\jre1.5.0_11\bin . Be carefull at the using of " for the name with spaces included)
When
I make or receive a call, it seems to work, but I can't
get connection the partecipant of the call part (1)

IMPORTANT FOR USERS USING MODEM-ROUTER-NAT FOR CONNECTING
TO INTERNET!!
The current version of the VoIP program ( )
doesn't implement the "full NAT Traversal". If you can't
get connection with the caller or the callee it means
you are behind a "Symmetric Nat" therefore you have
to configure your Modem-Router-Nat
to drive directly to your PC, all traffic that uses
UDP ports 6660 and 6661.
To be able to implement such a "rule" you have to configure
a static IP to you PC instead of getting
the address dynamically using DHCP.
For this task you can refer to the manual of your network
equipment, or write exhaustively to support@KITAWs.com
indicating the type of Nat you use for connecting
to Internet and the settings used in your PC. See also
the topic below.
When I make

IMPORTANT FOR USER WHO USE FIREWALL !!
It is necessar to give to the program the permission
to use the ports 5060, 6660 and 6661 for traffic UDP.
Generally when you launch the VoIP component ( ),
an interface of Firewall asks permission to allow necessary
traffic, in the case grant permission to the parameters
specified above.
These operations do not introduce additional vulnerability
to your systems.

When
I launch the VoIP program ( )
for the first time a Firewall window opens
asking to permit traffic for Vtel, what have I to do?:
